My first time in Camp was just over 14 years ago, when I was 10 years old. That week at Emerald Bay would be my first summer camp as a Boy Scout, and immediately I felt a new kind of independence.
Leave a CommentBrothers David & Scott Porter worked on Staff in the 80s and 90s. They were known for their board game nights, cherry fights and “bird calls”…and on a cool summer night, if you listened ever-so-carefully, you’d hear David proclaiming “Bork! Bork! Bork!” across the dusty hills.
5 CommentsI recall this as clearly as though it happened yesterday. It was the closing week of Camp in August 1991. We Staff had gathered at the campfire circle, arm in arm, to sing the EB Hymn. On this occasion, however, there was a profound difference.
